Nokia acquires Avvenu.

When we founded Avvenu in 2004, we knew that people were using an increasing number of technology devices in their daily lives - personal computers, laptops, mobile phones, smartphones and set-top boxes to name a few. We realized that accessing and sharing all the photos, office documents, music, videos and other files on all these devices would rapidly get unmanageable - inevitably, you wouldn't be in the same place as the stuff you needed, and even if you got it transferred, it might not be in the right format for the device you were using.

To solve these problems, we decided to create a secure service that allows anyone to get at their stuff - no matter which device they happened to be using, and no matter where their stuff was physically stored (even if that device was turned off). We wanted an easy-to-use service that automatically took care of the differences between these devices, providing whatever file conversions were needed. We succeeded in creating our patented technology platform and in early 2005, launched our initial service known as Access 'n Share, rapidly growing a large user base.

In meeting Nokia and learning of their Internet services mission, we rapidly discovered kindred spirits - people who understood the potential of the mobile Internet and the global need for services such as Access 'n Share. Together, we'll be able to deliver on our original goals faster, delivering a powerful secure remote access and private sharing experience that seamlessly bridges devices, networks and files, simply making it easier to get to your stuff.

Our thanks go to all the Avvenu users who provided valuable feedback and helped make our service great. As Avvenu joins the Nokia family, our service will continue to operate, although there will be some changes.
