Which Avvenu service level is right for you?

Avvenu Basic is free, allowing you access to all of your files, from anywhere, any time as long as your computer is turned on and online … and there is no “catch.” We will not put advertising messages in your e-mails or reveal your registration information to third-parties. You will not be bombarded with Spam because you have signed up with the free version of Avvenu.

Avvenu Plus, on the other hand, is a paid premium service which gives you Guaranteed Access to your files from any Internet-connected computer or mobile device, wherever you are, whenever you want, even if your computer is turned off or offline! Check out a comparison chart of Avvenu Basic and Avvenu Plus features.

What is My Media Play?

Own a lot of music? Now Avvenu lets you take all of your favorite music with you anywhere.  You can play all of your MP3 and WMA music files from PC to PC, or from PC to any handheld device equipped with Windows Mobile 5.0

What is Guaranteed Access?

With Avvenu Plus, you get guaranteed access to your most important files from any internet-connected mobile device or computer wherever you are, even if your computer is offline or turned off. You select the files/folders that you want to be available through Guaranteed Access and Avvenu Plus does the rest. Your files are automatically synchronized whenever you make any changes, thereby ensuring that the most current versions of your files and folders are available whether or not your computer is online.

Does someone I want to share with also have to be an Avvenu member?

No. You can share with anyone. All they need is an email account and a browser.

Can I have multiple computers?

Yes. The Avvenu service allows you to have up to four computers registered with the system. That means that your home computer, office computer, laptop, and Media Center PC can all be accessible to you remotely.

Are my shared computers secure?

Yes. First, access to your PC is managed by Avvenu, which verifies that only people you authorize can see your pictures and files. Second, remote users are restricted to accessing only the files you’ve designated. Third, the access is encrypted to prevent interception. And fourth, others’ access to your PC is limited to viewing, which eliminates the threat of computer viruses.

What mobile phones and PDAs are supported?

The Avvenu service supports any browser-equipped mobile phone or PDA. No special software needs to be downloaded to the device.

What are the system requirements for Avvenu’s services?

In order to use the Avvenu service, you need:

  • A PC running Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or Windows Vista.
  • A broadband internet connection.

Avvenu does not require any modification to your network or firewall. If you can browse the web, you can use Avvenu.

Do I need a broadband connection?

It is recommended that the Avvenu service be used with a broadband connection like DSL or a cable modem. The Avvenu service works best with an “always-on” connection.

What happens if my computer is off?

It depends on your service level. Users of the free or basic service, need to leave their computers online in order to access their files remotely.  If their computer is off or offline, then when an attempt is made to access the computer, a message indicating that the PC is offline will be seen.

On the other hand, premium Avvenu Plus subscribers with Guaranteed Access can access their selected files/folders even when their computer is turned off or offline.

Can I track who I’ve shared content with?

Yes. The Avvenu service gives you the ability to track everything that you’ve shared with the outside world. You can stop access at any time for anything that you have shared.

Can Avvenu be used with Macintosh computers?

No, the host computer must currently be a Windows-based computer. This will be extended to include the Macintosh in the future. You can share your content with anyone on an Internet-connected device—including a Mac.
